HANELORE - I'm guessing this is a compressed version of Hannelore

Which is still a very old fashioned name...and a very bad blurry photo of the plate, sorry!

OOTTAT - This plate is on the pickup truck of a local tattoo parlor.

I have always been tremendously amused by the thoroughness and randomness of their advertising campaign.

Happy April Fools!

MYCRUSER - This driver can't spell either

If you're going to ID your car, make sure you have enough space to spell it correctly!

MYBIEMER - I think you should have used spellcheck

Because most people spell it Beemer...but at least you know it's yours and that you cannot spell...

ILUVMYM3: Would you still love it if it was someone else's?

The next series of "what kind of car?" plates all have either "MY" or the owner's name on the plate. Nothing like writing your name on your possessions like you are in preschool...

MAINEFAN - March 15 is the statehood day for Maine

I do find it a little odd to have a NYS plate and be a fan of Maine. Why not live there then?

ME & MINI - Makes me think of the 1980s toy "My Buddy" for some reason

Also definitely a plate that needs to go on a certain type of car. I hope you bought it rather than leasing it or you're going to need a new plate in three years. (Note to self: cellphone camera flashes don't work well at a distance).

DEWDLBUG - I have no idea what this plate means

Googling it got me an arts and crafts website, a link to pill bugs, and a 1997 movie title. I would guess that the pill bug link was what the car owner intended

BAHSBG - Bah (interjection) an expression of contempt or disgust

Definition from http://www.thefreedictionary.com. Somehow I suspect that was not the meaning the car's owner was trying to express - I suspect instead that his or her initials are B.A.H.

ARTBUG - For the first week of March's "plates that describe the car" I'm doing Volkswagen Beetles.

My neighbor's old red Volkswagen Beetle with the license plate "BUGCAR" was what actually got me interested in photographing license plates. With the car below, I have to wonder whether the owner's name is ART or whether he or she is an ARTIST or whether there's some other meaning I'm not getting.

March's theme: Plates that describe the car

I've decided that March will be largely dedicated to license plates that reflect or describe the owner's car. These amuse me because it's not obvious enough what type of car the person drives simply from looking at it, but they have to let you know on the plate as well.

INNDEED - You own the deed to an inn?

Somehow I don't think that's the message you were trying for. :)  But why put "indeed" on a plate?

IBOTOXU - Saw this in the parking lot of a medical building recently.

I've been to that building several times recently and I'm willing to bet if I checked the building directory there's a plastic surgeon there. I'd say it's effective advertising for his or her business but there's no address on the car.

Sunday Link: Honoring the dead Presidents

Not to be gloomy on your President's Day three-day weekend, but president-themed license plates are not popular. Instead, I thought we would go with a funeral tribute to our previous presidents via these hearse license plates.

CUT2STYL - I'm getting a haircut brought to me today

Since I've been feeling like a shaggy sheepdog this is very exciting! Again, though, I think this plate would be better advertising if you had your business address on your car.
